The book of Daniel tells the story of Daniel and his friends, taken from home and thrust into the foreign land of Babylon. The culture around them tried to impose itself upon them. Their names were changed, they were pressured to eat forbidden food and to bow to other gods. However, they made a decision to not be transformed by their culture, but instead to transform the culture around them. We need to do the same.

Hard workers are often told to slow down and feel bad about working hard. However, there are times when slowing down and stopping is not an option. Psalm 34 shows that acknowledging God in the midst of difficulty will help to get us through.

Today we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. However, many people don’t fully appreciate what Christ’s resurrection achieved. The resurrection didn’t just validate who Jesus was; it was much more than that. The resurrection was a new creation event that began a process that is still creating new life now.
